How do I get started?
Download the free 10-21 Video app for iPhone or Android then register with your law enforcement email address. If you’re already a 10-21 Police Phone user, sign in with those same credentials.
How do I Go Live?
Easy. After launching the app, tap “Go Live” from the main menu. This will take you to a live-camera preview mode. To begin your recorded broadcast, tap the big red button at the bottom.
How do I Tune In?
Tap “Tune In” from the main menu. You will then be prompted to enter a Channel Number, and in some cases, a Channel Passphrase.
How do I share my Channel with others?
Before or during your broadcast, tap the Share arrow in the upper-right corner of the preview screen. You will be prompted to share your Channel Number as a Text Message, Email, WhatsApp Message, or any other method available on your device. Viewers receive a link that transports them right into your live broadcast.
Where are my videos stored?
10-21 has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud to allow US government agencies to store videos in the cloud while addressing specific regulatory and compliance requirements. Because AWS GovCloud is physically and logically accessible by US persons only, and also supports FIPS 140-2 compliant endpoints, government agencies including the US Department of State have put their trust in this storage solution.
How much storage space do I have?
Unlimited! Our goal is to continue offering unlimited storage for everyone (free and paid users) so that officers everywhere can Go Live without the fear of storage costs.
Can anyone Tune In to my video?
Anyone you give the Channel Number to can Tune In, but here’s why it’s still very secure. First, only verified law enforcement are able to sign into the 10-21 app, which eliminates concern over public access to the network. Second, random channel numbers have 100,000 possibilities at any given time for someone to guess. Third, they have to make that guess during the exact time you are live. And finally, we have a layer of intelligence built into the system to detect and lockout troublemakers. We feel these four components make free tier access adequately secure, but for those who desire additional protection, our Enterprise Edition allows for Passphrase Protection on channels. Users can specify a secure Passphrase that viewers must enter when Tuning In.
How do I delete a video?
Yes, soon you will be able to delete your own videos. No, we will not delete your videos automatically. Stay tuned as this feature is coming just around the bend.
How much battery does 10-21 Video use?
It depends. Newer phones with larger batteries naturally outperform an old iPhone 4. However, a good rule of thumb is 1% of battery usage per minute of streaming, meaning a typical phone can Go Live or Tune In for about 100 minutes straight. Need more battery life? Attach a battery extender case or portable charger to boost those broadcasts for additional hours.
